Intense ruby red color. Notes of ripe, red fruit and jam give way to spice, vanilla and licorice. Well-managed tannin and balanced acidity provide suppleness and lead to a long, lingering finish.
Wine Advocate 93 points - The 2011 Tignanello demonstrates a very ripe and fruit-forward personality with bursting cherry and blackberry folded within sweet spice, moist tobacco and honey-almond paste. Its texture is heavy and dense with sticky spots of sweetness (the alcohol is recorded at 14.5%). With such a fruit-heavy personality, the wine doesn’t reach the soaring heights or brilliant complexity we see in cooler vintages. It should veer toward a greater sense of focus and tightness with more bottle age. (Oct 2014)
Wine Spectator 92 points - A powerful red, with plum, blackberry and black cherry flavors that border on jammy, all kept in check by juicy acidity and firm, dense tannins and leather and earth accents. Finishes long, with a mineral flourish. Best from 2015 through 2023.óB.S (Jun 18 2014)
An intense ruby red in color, the aromas of the wine are characterized by a powerful varietal expressiveness, with ample notes of red fruit, raspberries, and liquorice. On the palate, the wine, still very young, immediately shows firm tannins with much polish and finesse as well, along with a balancing, tonic acidity and savory mineral notes which add length and persistence to the finish and aftertaste.
"One of the best Tignanellos ever made. Aromas of currants and blueberries with hints of flowers. Full body, with fine tannins and a refined finish. A red that delivers balance and beauty. Rich and gorgeous. Best Tignanello in years."
