Binyamina Winery is proud of its long tradition of producing fine wines from a range of grape varieties. For the first time Binyamina Winery has created a varietal wine from Zinfandel grapes under its flagship Reserve label.
The Zinfandel (also known as Primitivo) grape has its origins in Italy or Croatia and it made its way to the United States with the wave of immigrants in the mid-19th century. Today it is used to produce the red wines and the highly popular rose wines that the Americans refer to as White Zinfandel. Even though it is a difficult variety to grow, Zinfandel vineyards are a common sight in northern California, Napa Valley and Sonoma.
Zinfandel grapes are rich in sugar and produce wines that are relatively high in alcohol content – up to as much as 15%. Zinfandel wines are typically full-bodied with ripe, sweet and fruity flavors and are often referred to a “hot wines”.
Binyamina Winery produces its Reserve Zinfandel from grapes grown in its vineyard at the foot of Mt. Tabor in the Lower Galilee. At some stage we almost uprooted the vineyard due to unsatisfactory results, but four years ago we decided to change cultivation techniques and, together with the winegrower, invested enormous efforts in achieving high quality grapes.
We believe these efforts paid off and are proud to present the results of this investment.
